Concept Statement:

Designed out of necessity, this table capitalizes off of simple features. The table is constructed from a rich, deep brown Walnut and a warm, light Maple, their contrast in color is used to create the inlaid chess board on the surface of the table. The opposing colors of the two woods also highlights the simple beauty of the box joints which connect the three panels of the table. The void in the table is used as book storage and display, the books are easily accessible from either side.
