Concept Statement:
This unconventional tenant space will serve as a workplace for client Nate Wood. A string instrument repairman or luthier, who focuses on client relationships, quality work and connecting with the online luthier community. The design intends to offer opportunities for Nate to display his interests and personality, to create a unique, stylish, welcoming space. The workshop and mezzanine office above exist as a room within a room; it differentiates private workspaces from the lounge and test booth. Function is the priority in both public and private spaces. Daily the lounge will serve as a casual meeting space for Nate’s one-on-one meetings with clients; But also, could be utilized as a multipurpose space for small gatherings with a kitchenette fit for all workplace and hosting needs. In the corner of the lounge is a test booth hidden with an integrated door in the curvilinear wall, a private space for clients to test and play their instruments. The project also includes the construction of two restrooms which serve adjacent tenants, accessed through the Rivett Building’s apartment lobby.
