Concept Statement:
With my concept I wanted to challenge myself by going outside of the typical aesthetics and emotions associated with sweetness. Focusing on portraying the richness and wide variety of textures that can be found in baked goods. There textures range from smooth glazes to thick caramels to molded geometric Bundt cakes. With my materials I also wanted to embrace and showcase the contrast between organic patterns and geometric forms. Lastly, I also wanted to focus on the range of warm neutrals and rich browns, with slight accents of red/pink tones. Since my goal with this project was to focus on texture, I think that this project would be a very interactive space because users would be tempted to touch each material. The textiles in the palette mimic the textures of baked goods like cakes or cookies, while the glazing and ceramics mimic chocolate, caramel and even strawberry jam. And for my found element I included some Girl Scout cookies and a peanut butter cup. I think that their colors and textures go along well with the materials in the palette. And I also really like how they are all circular and therefore contrast the materials on the board.
